Today we head to the coast, to one of the outstanding scenic spots in the world, La Jolla Cove. Lovin’ La Jolla Cove! My husband and I dated and fell in love walking around the beaches, cliffs, and park of The Cove. And after almost-38 years of marriage, we still love to wander around The Cove.

The scenes are gorgeous all year round. In the winter, when a big storm rolls in off the Pacific, the surf can pick up. The picture above is from an epic day at The Clam – which is the surf spot just north of The Cove. One of our surfer friends gave us a call, and said, “Get down here. The surf is up!” That wave I captured, behind the sea lions on the rock, is probably close to 20-feet high.

But most of the year, the waves are a little more tame. The Cove is a favorite spot for families with kids to splash around in.

Pack a picnic lunch of snack. There are several of these green wooden picnic sheds in the area around The Cove.

Then linger for a romantic sunset.

And be prepared to fall in love.
